Lions Unleashed is a nonprofit organization established in 2019, striving to provide extensive resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities to minorities and young entrepreneurs. By emphasizing values of professionalism and entrepreneurship, we hope to kickstart the careers of our mentees and prepare them for future endeavors in the corporate world.

In today’s society, we often find that young immigrants and minorities have difficulty making their dreams come true because they lack the network or financial means. This is where we can help! Our team of extremely talented and successful mentors, also known as Lions, have started their own businesses or climbed the ladder through their companies and are ready to guide Cubs through their career choices. Cubs who apply to this program will also have access to a variety of free resources ranging from workshops, job opportunities, and scholarships.

A Message From Our Founder

In 2019, I started Lions Unleashed with my daughter and friends to focus on immigrant and minority youth. Our mission is quite simple; identify young and talented immigrants and minorities and provide mentorship, networks, and resources to maximize their potential. I started this organization because of my own experience as an immigrant from Guyana. I was lucky that my mom was college educated and I was able to navigate with help from her and my other family members. Many of my friends were not so fortunate. Through Lions Unleashed, I aim to provide this new generation of hardworking individuals with numerous opportunities to grow and make their respective marks on the world.

Wesley Ramjeet is founder and CEO of PPMT Strategic Group, Inc. an independently owned accounting and consulting service firm. He has over 20 years of experience in Accounting, Taxation, and Business Advisory Mr. Ramjeet’s industry expertise includes Media, Entertainment, Technology, Mining and Biotech. Mr. Ramjeet began his career at Ernst and Young, LLP in various groups including the Entrepreneurial Services Group, Tax Strategy Group, National Strategy Group, and Strategic Investment Group. Mr. Ramjeet is currently a Board Member of Olaregen Therapeutics, SNN and Stock News Now. Mr. Ramjeet holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. John’s University in New York, NY and is a certified CPA licensed in New York.

Inspired by her love for kids and hoping to play a supportive role in their lives, Vanessa started her career in the human services field as a Career Counselor for a nonprofit in Long Island, New York. She later went on to take on roles like Case Manager and Family Mediator working with homeless adolescents. She also worked as an educational advocate for kids in foster care. Working with youth along the years helped to solidify her decision in becoming a School Psychologist. Vanessa became a School Psychologist in 2014. She worked both in the Yonkers Public School district in New York and the Collier County school district in Florida.

As she worked with students of various cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and beliefs, she began to see a need for mindfulness education. In 2017, she wrote Mindful Me, a children’s book about the benefits of mindful living.

Through her work with youth, Vanessa seeks to promote social/emotional learning, mindfulness, executive function skills, and self-care. Her goal is to encourage self-awareness and self-worth to help youth discover their highest potential. Vanessa is currently serving the Fort Myers, Florida area as a licensed school psychologist in her private practice, Present Mind LLC.

Kervin Castro is an immigrant born in Venezuela. He is now a professional baseball player and plays relief pitcher for the Chicago Cubs. As an immigrant, Castro is incredibly passionate about giving back to his community. One way he has done this is through a partnership with Lions Unleashed to provide aid for underprivileged children in the Dominican Republic. This aid comes in the form of resources such as school supplies, creation of a sport field and afterschool programs. “I am very proud of my Hispanic roots coming from Venezuela as an immigrant. I hope that I can be an inspiration to other Hispanic kids and show them that they can also be successful through hard work and passion. I am also excited about the work that I am doing with Lions Unleashed and hope to improve the lives of the kids in Santo Domingo.”
